I just got an amazing PC game, Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, that has amazing reqs for running smoothly. I'm thinking about getting a Nvidia 7600GT card but the fan is reported to be a little loud. This replacement fan should fix the problem, but I'm not sure it will all fit in my machine.

 

Well duh, I just realized that I'm stuck in AGP land with my motherboard and most card like this one is the new PCI-Express interface. Well now, I'm thinking I'll try to overclock my card, which is:

Rockbox is an open-source firmware for mp3 players. It works pretty well, and I need to update the firmware for my iRiver HP120 player. Of course I have an iPod, but the iRiver is handy for recording and tranferring data.

Once that's set up, how to contol iTunes? Well, there's patio tunes, which costs $15, cover buddy, which costs $20, or?... maybe remoteremote, which is freeware, but only navigates thru with playlists. Browser-based would be best, since I'd really like to use my PSP.

http://www.muvaudio.com/ defeats DRM and saves streaming audio locally as MP3s. Would it work with yahoo's $5/month unlimited music service? Yahoo offers a 7 day trial, so why not give it a try?

 

The yahoo music software was so crappy that I gave this endevour up in disgust. The poor quality of their inferface surprised me since I am normally happy with Yahoo's offerings.

 

Fixing comcast internet cable service

 

It's known problem that comcast handicaps their service when used thru a router. The fix is to clone your MAC address from the computer where you originally set up your comcast software, which probably registered in there servers. This thread talks about the issue extensively. I've noticed sketchy server since I changed my router, and I've had to reset my modem and router more times than I care to remember. I'll give this fix a try and see how it works out.
